MacHeist 3 Just Got Even Better

leave a comment »

Wow! I just received a message from MacHeist people – they give away licenses for Delicious Library 2 to everyone who purchased the MacHeist 3 bundle. I bought several days ago, as soon as I learnt about it on Twitter. It  includes several great applications I was already considering to buy on my own so I could not resist the temptation and bought the whole bundle for “the insanely low price of $39″.

MacHeist 3 Bundle

Don McAllister of ScreenCastsOnline.com did a great overview of the software packages comprising the bundle.

In my personal opinion, the best applications in the bundle are:

  • Acorn – powerful graphics editor, as in “PhotoShop for humans”
  • WireTap Studio – the ultimate recording utiltity, as in “podcaster’s dream”
  • Picturesque makes your images gorgeous, as in “wow! who did this?”
  • PhoneView opens up your iPhone, as in “16GB flash drive”

There are other great applications that I am also excited about – like BoinxTV, a TV studio in your Mac, and Espresso, a fresh new web development tool – but they have not been unlocked yet. Let us wait…

By the way, they say that 25% of all sales goes to charity, and you can even choose which charity organizations your money goes to. It is a great cause – keep up the good work, guys!

Anyway, I am blown away by the Delicious Library 2 deal – it feels like getting that shiny new toy you were dreaming of the whole year under the Christmas tree in your childhood. Wow!

Quick – only 4 days left! Go get your copy now.

Конверт для MacBook Air

leave a comment »

Using TypePad for now…

leave a comment »

For the past month or so, I have been posting to my other blog only – over at TypePad.

I am kind of torn between TypePad and WordPress now – as I like WordPress interface better, but TypePad has some features I like, too. I am still not convinced which one I would keep as primary one…

Anyway, for now – please go to my TypePad blog

iPhone vs Palm Treo 650 and BlackBerry

with 11 comments

I just came across two interesting articles that compare Apple iPhone vs. Palm Treo 650 and iPhone vs. Blackberry. Both authors have a lot of experience using Treo and Blackberry, respectively, and add a lot of insight. It was particularly interesting for me to see iPhone from the point of view of Treo and Blackberry users as I currently use both Treo 650 and Blackberry 7230.

iPhone Unlocking Video

A video was posted by iPhoneUnlocking.com that shows a process of software unlocking of an iPhone. The video quality is very poor (shot with Nokia N95) but at least you can see all the steps required:

A short demo of hacked iPhone running several third-party apps: e-book reader, game, IM client.  Very promising!

Blogging Services – First Results

with 2 comments

After playing with several of free and commercial blog hosting services, here are some results:

  • WordPress - currently primary blog, will keep it. I may decide to host a WordPress-based blog myself in the future. It looks like
  • TypePad - very powerful, I am tempted to keep it for $4.95/month – still have 5 days to decide whether to keep it. By the way, I have found a very nice template there – Curves Blue – which I happen to like the most from all the templates for all the services I tried so far…
  • Vox - will probably keep it for now, but I am not sure if I will ever start using it. I like some of its community features like list of books, etc. but I do not like its heavy layout and ads that I do not control. I may want to play with it for some more time, especially since it shares some features with its bigger brother - TypePad.
  • Blogger - will keep it (since it is free) but probably would not use it. Even though it has the cleanest interface of all the services I tried, it is also the most limited in its features – for example, it is not possible to import posts, etc.
  • Blogsome - was deleted today without hesitation: it has absolutely no advantages over a regular WordPress-based blog (including a free WordPress.com-hosted blog)
